Tonight it’s the officially begin of the Olympic Games so we just have time for one game more. I don’t come to mind better option than relive the last gold medal game where Spain repeated a fantastic game against USA in London 2012 and converting his effort in another Olympic silver medal.
We continue with gold medal games. Any Olympic gold medal game deserves to be remembered and especially the 1992 Barcelona Dream Team. However we’re to less than one week to Rio so I decided to follow with the spanish silver medals. So it’s time to relive the 2008 Beijing gold medal game!
The Olympic Games are coming and I can’t wait to the opening game. So I think it’s a perfect moment to remember classic games as aperitif/warm-up. This time I selected the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games what it has a double meaning for me: They were the first Olympics for Michael Jordan and the first Olympic medal for Spain.
I’m sorry friends for my low activity with the posts but I’m very busy with other matters and I haven’t time for all. Now I’m online so I take advantage to continue with the “essentials” section. Other documentary absolutely reccomended for your video library and also a very good complement for the previous post.
Another bit of history. An inevitably retro collection of a team sadly disappeared but of course it deserves to be remembered. Yugoslavia is considered one of the best teams in basketball history with 5 World Championships, 8 Eurobaskets and 1 Olympic gold medal. But between this achievements Yugoslavia is the reponsible team of 2 big eras of domination in the international basketball.
I know that I said “the prices are too high” but as Fiba MANIAC I couldn’t avoid it and I was there finally. It was the first Eurobasket with more than one country in the organization and I wanted to live the experience.
The next documentary is a perfect complement for the previous post. Without doubt it should take up a privileged place in your video library. This is the reason why the next video premieres the “essentials” section.
The country where the basketball was born. This history in addition of his demography have become to USA in the best team in the FIBA history (14 olympic gold medals in 17 appearances and also 5 World Cup championships) and with the best domestic league in the world. However the differences have been decreased 2 times. First when the college players were replaced by the professionals and we could see the best team in the sports history. After Sarunas Jasikevicius gave the first warning to the professionals missing a buzzer beater in the 2000 olympic Games. In the next tournaments the USA professional team lost the 2002 World Cup in home, the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2006 World Cup in Japan. In the last years the USA team has recovered the lost prestige. What does the future hold?
After Pau Gasol has been named Eurobasket 2015 MVP and considering the worsening of Syria crisis with millions of refugees I’m going to sell this special collector piece: The spanish national team 2006 Pau Gasol jersey when Pau and his teammates won the World Cup and Pau was named MVP of the tournament also in this competition. The jersey was signed during the Eurobasket 2015 first phase in Berlin (September 8th). Again the 50% of the sale price will be for UNICEF so please share!
And as good spanish I also have to share in the first places my Spain National Team collection. This is the opposite case to the Knicks. In 1999 a generation won the Junior World Championship over the USA team. Since that day I grew up seeing an espectacular team crush the rivals in the summer friendlies and winning titles or reaching the finals almost every year so when the team doesn’t play the final it seems a failure. But the reality is without any doubt very different. A generation that it will go down in history as sample of success and humility.
