Nowitzki began to be known playing for Würzburg in the second division of Germany (BBL2). So Dirk got the invitation for nike events and he got more popularity. At the 1998 NBA draft Nowitzki was selected by Milwaukee Bucks with the 9th overall pick and traded to Dallas. However the start of the 1998/1999 season was delayed by the lockout so Dirk returned to Würzburg until the NBA start 5th february
