I realized I’m absolutely focused in the Olympic Games so I think it’s a good moment to take a break before the opening ceremony. Today we are back with european clubs. I started with Maccabi Tel Aviv because it was the first FIBA team to defeat a NBA team in history but Real Madrid is the king of Europe with 9 championships and 8 runner-ups.
Real Madrid is also the most successful team in his country with 33 league titles and 26 King’s cups. However it’s true that his leadership in Spain and Europe has been decreased in the last decades (“only” 5 national leagues, 1 euroleague and 1 King’s cup between 1990 and 2010), appearing new strong teams. Fortunately for the Real Madrid fans Pablo Laso arrived in 2011 opening a new era with his cheerful style and home guys. So now Real Madrid is always in the favorite group again.
Finally and not less important Real Madrid also has a big contribution with basketball history. Between his big names outstands the businessman Raimundo Saporta which created some of the most famous international competitions as the Euroleague and the spanish league encouraging the game of basketball in Europe.
